The Hospital Quality Initiative (HQI), like other CMS quality initiatives, consists of many facets. Its goals are to improve the care provided by the nation’s hospitals and to provide quality information to consumers and others. CMS has several efforts in progress to provide hospital quality information to consumers and others and improve the care provided by the nation’s hospitals.Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center is an active voluneeter participate in the HQI. A part of that is the Hospital Compare consumer website. This site provides you with information on how well the hospitals care for all their adult patients with certain medical conditions. How is Quality Measured?
Hospitals can vary in the quality of care they provide and a quality measure is one way to see how well a hospital is caring for its patients. It is very common for adults to be in the hospital to get treatment for a heart attack or heart failure. Therefore, getting the recommended care in these areas means you are more likely to have better outcomes.
